Yes, It does rain in Tucson

(Carrie) Last night Tucson was hit by some pretty heavy rain storms. Lightening and thunder all evening! This kind of weather is seasonal and locals call the storms a "monsoon". The monsoon rains usually come in the afternoons a few days a week. Charles and I were driving when the rain started coming down hard. Some of the roads had so much water, it looked like there were rivers running down both sides of the street. It was fun for me to see that much water! Here are some pictures of the water the next morning.

The Rillito River Wash near our apartment. Usually it is completely dry, but now a fast-flowing river.

Pools of water that will stay for a few days.

The road is still flooded by the entrance to our apartment.

Holy smokes that is a lot of water! A big rainstorm like that every once in a while is fun.
