The BIG Four-O

Yesterday was my birthday. Unbeknownst to me, my sweet wife had been working feverishly behind the scenes in planning the big event. Saturday night I was banished to the computer room for over an hour while Carrie was a busy beaver making birthday preparations.

After a great breakfast of raspberry blueberry pancakes and eggs, Carrie wanted me to open the big 40 box.

And so the fun began...

An hour later...

In the box were 40 of the following: 1980's songs on CD, quarters, memories, pictures, matchbox cars, tic tacs, sunflower seeds, bags of fish crackers and fish fruit snacks, paperclips, pebbles, blank 3 x 5 notecards, butterfingers, golf tees, $1 bills, golf balls.

After church Carrie prepared a fabulous dinner of chicken tetrazzini (recipe from the Lion House cookbook). I opened more gifts from Carrie and visited with family and friends.

The grand finale was a blazing inferno of my birthday cake.

It sounds like you both had great birthday celebrations. You both did a great job making it special for the other.

I loved your idea of sending 40 items of something! That is quite the blaze with all of those birthday candles. Love you guys!
