Carrie's 7 Random Things

1. I don't like filling the car up with gasoline. Have you ever had a drop of gasoline spill on your clothes or get on your hands? You end up smelling like gasoline all day. Luckily I married Charles and he doesn't mind filling up the cars. He even washes the windows while he's waiting. What a guy!!!

2. I love oatmeal, peanut butter and chocolate! Especially when all three are together - like peanut butter oatmeal bars with chocolate frosting. When I was in elementary school, I'd get the French Dip Sandwich from the cafeteria just to get the Peanut Butter Fingers (I'm not a fan of the sandwich). I got a recipe from a former coworker for those bars and they are very similar to the ones I remember from elementary school. Here's the recipe:

Peanut Butter Fingers

1 1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 cup peanut butter
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Mix the above ingredients well. Then add 4 cups flour and 3 cups oatmeal. Spray 2 large cookie sheets and press mixture flat onto cookie sheets. Bake at 325 degrees for 10 - 12 minutes. Spread peanut butter over warm cookie. Let cool and then frost with chocolate frosting.

I eat a bowl of oatmeal most mornings for a hearty breakfast. Reese's peanut butter cups and Butterfinger are my favorite candy bars.

3. My dream job would be to own a bakery. I could make bread, cookies and cakes all day long. I think it would be a lot of fun!

4. I love finding items on sale - groceries, clothes, stuff for the house, you name it. I love the $5 off Bed, Bath and Beyond coupons and buy-one-get-one free deals from restaurants. Why pay more than you need to?

5. I love BYU football. But I didn't like any football until after I graduated from college. A few years ago I bought season tickets to BYU football with Janet and some other friends, and was hooked. I even like to watch old (1980's and 1990's) BYU football games on KBYU when there isn't a real game on to watch.

6. I avoid making left-hand turns whenever possible. I'm fine making them if I am at a traffic light. Luckily in Tucson, most intersections have a green arrow for left-hand turns. If not, I'll alter my course or make a U-turn to avoid making a left-hand turn on a busy street.

7. I'm not into scrapbooking or anything crafty. That stuff always seems to take a lot of time. But I have taken up quilting the past year. I guess that's kindof crafty, right? Here's a picture of the block I made last month for the block-of-the-month club I am in. It's called a Shadow Star.

I like your quilt block, it looks really good! We just got done going out to dinner after the game and were saying how much we miss you! I actually asked the lunch lady for the PB bars recipe and she gave it to me! I'll have to see if it's similar to the one you have.

Wow Carrie, I didn't know you were into quilting! That block from your block-of-the-month club is really cool. We'll have to try that peanut butter finger recipe. And I have to agree that owning a bakery would be such a fun job for you!
