Fall Leaves in the Desert

The top of Mt. Lemmon is about a 45 minute drive from our home. We love going there to camp, hike and enjoy the changing seasons (it even snows there).

Last weekend (October 13) we went there to enjoy the changing fall leaves. We saw mainly yellow aspens, but there were a few red maples as well. It was a good reminder that it is autumn in most of the rest of the country.

At the top of Mt. Lemmon is a fun little community called Summerhaven. We stopped at the Cookie Cabin and ordered a pizza and sampler cookie for lunch. We also stopped at the General Store so I could buy my usual 1/4 pound of fudge. This time I tried 5 flavors before choosing my favorite - chocolate peanut butter. It was so nice to relax in the cool mountain air, enjoying our time with each other!
