Our Great Alaska Adventure - Part 1

We returned Sunday, August 8, from our great Alaska Adventure of 2010! We spent a wonderful week of relaxing, exploring, hiking and eating while cruising the Inside Passage with my parents.

Our fabulous vacation began Saturday, July 31, with a flight into Salt Lake City. It was great to see the Wasatch Front again. We met my nephew, Carter, for the first time. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures with him. We enjoyed playing with Carter and seeing Emily and Jay for a few hours. We then spent the rest of the evening with the Jones' family - taking family pictures and eating dinner at a park. It was a great day spent with both families!

Early Sunday morning we flew into Seattle. Charles served his mission in the Seattle area and loved looking down at the area from the plane. This is a picture Charles took of Mt. Rainier as we flew by.

When we arrived in Seattle, we boarded a shuttle bus and took a 30 minute drive to the pier. Once our papers were processed, we received our room keys and only had to wait a few minutes to board the ship.

Once we were on the ship, we unloaded our luggage, ate the first of many meals, then explored the boat.

Monday was a very relaxing day at sea. We watched the movie Up. I exercised, Charles ate his first and only hamburger and we all enjoyed our first formal night.

After dinner, we all played the game "Greed" that mom and dad taught us.

We also stayed up to watch the beautiful sunset. This was actually the only sunset we saw on the entire trip (because the sun set so late).

The rest of the vacation details will be posted soon!
