This Memorial commemorates the first major European exploration of the American Southwest. The Francisco Vasquez de Coronado Expedition first entered the US at this location in 1540. At the Visitor's Center we watched a movie about the failed expedition and tried on chain mail (similar to what the explorers would have worn) that weighed 27 pounds. It was difficult to put on because it was so heavy!
We then hiked to Coronado Cave and went on a self-guided tour of the cave for about an hour. We were the only ones in the cave at the time, which was nice. We could hear the water drip and listen to our echoes. It was very fun to explore that cave!

We then checked into the Ramsey Canyon Bed and Breakfast and ate delicious homemade Lemon Meringue and Peach Custard pies which were waiting for us on the kitchen counter.

We ate dinner at a local family restaurant. After dinner, we discovered that the car wouldn't start (we think it's the starter), so we left the car in the parking lot of the restaurant overnight. Thankfully we had the phone number to the B&B and so we called the owners who picked us up at the restaurant and took us back to the inn. Saturday we planned to hike to the US-Mexico border fence. Instead, we drove back to Tucson so that we wouldn't be stranded in the middle of nowhere with a car that wouldn't start. Having car troubles was a disappointing way to end our trip, but we still had a fun time exploring the cave and being with each other!

That's so frustrating about your car - but I'm glad you still had so much fun and a great weekend together! I can't believe you've been married 2 years! Happy Anniversary.
Saw some chain mail recently at a store in San Luis Obispo. Kinda cool!
