Pima Canyon Hike

(Carrie and Charles) We went on a fabulous hike this weekend up Pima Canyon. The weather was a perfect 70 degrees, with a few clouds in the sky. With the lack of water here in Arizona most of the hiking trails go toward water or an indian ruin. Well this time we decided to head toward both.

We started out on a flat trail that quickly turned steep and rocky.

Once we got into the canyon, the trail leveled out some and wound through trees and over rocks. It was beautiful! Charles said it meandered too much (which it did), but it was fun to be on such a trail.

We hiked 3 miles to a small dam and some "bedrock mortars", which are rock indentations from the Hohokam Indians grinding mesquite beans for mesquite flour (which we've tasted and really like).

We are glad we made it on another wonderful Saturday hike!
