Christmas 2008

Merry Christmas!!! We had a fabulous Christmas day and Christmas Eve and hope you all had a wonderful time with your family. Here's what we did for Christmas Eve:

Charles went to work in the morning and got home around 11:30. Carrie got up at the same time as Charles and began making the Orange Rolls for dinner. During the time the dough was rising, she went on a 45 minute walk/hike up Sabino Canyon. It was gorgeous in the canyon! With a lot of rain the past few days, the river was quite full and the leaves on the cottonwood trees were bright yellow (definitely fall weather in Tucson).

After Charles got home from work/Christmas shopping, we went geocaching. That is our new tradition, since that is how Charles proposed to Carrie last year (on Christmas Eve). We printed off three locations and went in search of the geocaches at a local park. We found all three, and even found a fourth that we weren't planning to find. Charles spotted the big pile of rocks that looked out of place under a cactus and found the 4th cache.

Three of the four caches were hidden exactly like this cache (the pile of rocks on the left, under the tree). Carrie is plotting the coordinates for the next cache.

Charles is logging another find in the "microcache" log book.

After geocaching, we went home to finish dinner preparations. Charles made Chicken Cordon Bleu. It was a fantastic dinner that also included Orange Rolls, baked potatoes and peas.

Once we were full from dinner, we read the account of Christ's birth in Luke 2 and The Night Before Christmas. Then we spent alot of time taking pictures of the two of us by our first Christmas tree, using the timer on Carrie's camera.

Mishaps with the camera timer:

After picture taking, we each opened one present and ate some treats. We hope that Santa enjoyed the treats we left for him!

We slept in until 8 am Christmas Day, which was wonderful. After opening presents, we ate pancakes with an orange/butter syrup. We went on a walk, talked to family, ate treats, took a nap, read, watched basketball and the movie White Christmas. It was a very relaxing, enjoyable Christmas day for the two of us!
