A Day in London

We spent our last day in England sightseeing in London. Because we had limited time and daylight to see the sights, we bought tickets for a red double decker tour bus. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would have loved to spend more time in London. Unfortunately we had another day of dreary weather, so the pictures are dark, but all we have!

On the bus at the beginning of the tour, listening to the tour guide.

Parliament Square was the site of the student riots the day before we took this tour. It was interesting to see the damage in person, after watching the BBC coverage the night before.

The Winston Churchill statue in Parliament Square was damaged with graffiti during the riots.

Me with Big Ben in the background. Big Ben was the number one item on my list of things to see in London.

Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster

St. Paul's Cathedral

Charles and St. Paul's Cathedral

Tower Bridge over the River Thames

The London skyline

After the bus tour, we looked at famous paintings in the National Gallery. We also listened to Christmas music at Trafalgar Square and walked around Piccadilly Circus. Charles is standing at the entrance to the Underground at Piccadilly Circus. We had a fun day exploring London!

That is so sad about the Winston Churchill statue. I saw the news about the riots while you were there. I am glad you were able to see Big Ben!
