(Carrie) We had the missionaries over for dinner to start our New Year's Eve celebration. We all wore party hats and had noise makers, so we were festive. Dinner was great (meat and potatoes in the crock-pot) and we ate Party Popcorn (recipe at the end of this entry) for dessert. We were lucky there was even some popcorn left for our celebration, since I snacked on it alot during the day.
After the missionaries left, we watched Sleeping Beauty. Charles fell asleep halfway through, but I enjoyed watching the whole movie. After the movie ended, we decided we were too tired to stay up until midnight, so we went to sleep. I did set my alarm for 11:55 pm so we could ring in the new year, but promptly turned it off as we decided the new year would come whether we were awake or not. We had a very uneventful New Year's Eve, but we sure enjoyed getting some needed sleep!
New Year's Day we explored Tohono Chul park. Then Charles watched a football game while I took down Christmas decorations and treated myself to a nap. It was a very relaxing day!
The most exciting/interesting thing we saw at the park all day
Here's the recipe for Party Popcorn:
Party Popcorn
(we made half the recipe for our celebration and had tons to eat)
Pop 2 bags of microwave popcorn and set aside in a bowl. Melt in microwave 2 bags of white chocolate chips along with 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Pour melted chocolate over popcorn to coat. Stir in 1 bag of toffee bits and about 4 cups of mini pretzels. Add 1 bag of miniature m&m's and stir well. ENJOY!!!
