Saturday at the orchard

We spent a good part of yesterday at Apple Annie's, a U-pick orchard in Willcox, AZ. This was the first weekend of "Peach Mania" and we wanted to get some yummy peaches. We got up early for a Saturday and drove over an hour to the orchard. We started off our day eating all-you-can-eat pancakes with delicious peach topping, homemade sausage and milk. That was a very good breakfast!

We then asked an employee what the procedure was to pick our own peaches and found out that 90% of the crop was lost due to frost and the remaining peaches weren't ready to pick yet. We decided to go to the fields to pick vegetables instead. We got a bunch of green beans, green peppers and sweet corn. It was fun to pick those vegetables, especially since we haven't had any luck growing them in our own garden.

We then went back to the orchard for a wagon ride. We also bought a peach crumble pie, caramel kettle corn and some peaches that were shipped in from California. It was a very fun day at Apple Annie's!
