A Super Day Hike on the Super Trail

Saturday we went on a wonderful day hike on the Super Trail in Madera Canyon. Our goal was to make it to the top of Mt. Wrightson (elevation 9,453 feet), but we didn't quite make it there. We were on the trail for 7 hours and took the longer way to the top. Our total mileage round trip was 12 miles. Next time we go on this hike, we'll take the shorter route and make it to the top!

Here are some of the fun things we saw on our journey throughout the day.

On the drive to Madera Canyon, we saw this truck loaded up with various items headed south of the border. Even a toilet (bottom left) was not spared the trip!

We saw about 7 or 8 deer feeding near some cabins in the morning.

Charles and the Super Trail map.

About two miles into the hike.

We saw this blue lizard at one of the places we stopped to eat.

At Josephine Saddle, 3.7 miles into the hike.

Our goal: Mt. Wrightson

One of the beautiful views along the trail.

Our turnaround spot: Riley Saddle (elevation 8,000 feet) with Josephine Peak in the background.

We saw this cow crossing the road on our way home.
