Tucson Memorials

Charles and I just finished watching the "Together We Thrive" memorial service attended by President Obama. We enjoyed watching the service and thought the remarks by President Obama were very inspiring. We also loved the words of comfort quoted from the scriptures. I got to see Air Force One fly in to the Air Force base this afternoon from the windows by my desk at work. That was a fun sight to see!

Last night we visited the memorials at University Medical Center and at Gabriella Giffords office, just a few blocks away from where we live. We were amazed at how large the memorials are. The views on the television don't even come close to showing the size, beauty and peacefulness of the memorials.

These are pictures from the memorial at UMC.

I got teary reading the little child's card laying on the flag that says "I hope you feel better".

I was touched reading about the little girl's life.

The road by the hospital was lined with trucks for the news stations.

This is part of the memorial at Gabriella Giffords office, just a few blocks from our home.

I have coworkers who shop at that same grocery store and whose children attend the same school as the little girl. It has been an interesting experience for me the past few days. It is sad to be living in this piece of U.S. history, but it is nice to see all the kindness and goodness that has occurred as well.

Thanks for sharing your pictures of the memorials, they are really beautiful. What a tragedy to happen in your town, but it is really neat how much support and hope it has generated.

Thanks for sharing. It really makes the important things in life stand out and help me remember that we are all in this together.

It is so neat to see all of the support and love that is given after tragedies. It is hard to hear about these stories but it is also neat to see how much people care.

It was interesting to me to see the memorials. They really are beautiful and so wonderful how Tucson has pulled together through all of this.
