Saguaro National Park

We took advantage of free entrance to all National Parks day to hike in Saguaro National Park (East). It was the first time either of us had hiked in this park, although we both visited this park separately many years ago for biking (Charles) and a fun run (Carrie). We enjoyed the many wildflowers, blooming cacti, sunshine and being on a hike together!

The first trail took us to some lime kilns used in the 1800's. We hiked past the lime kilns to "Lime Falls" which was a beautiful place, but no water was flowing.

The second trail took us to the Freeman Homestead. We saw remnants of the adobe home foundation and huge saguaro cacti. We plan to do more hiking, backpacking and camping in this park in the future.

I am glad you took advantage of the beauty around you. Too often I forget that my surroundings are beautiful and seek to go elsewhere.

While trees are beautiful, I LOVE the look of saguaro cacti! I'm so glad you got to take a hike. I love those sunny skies too ;)
