Christmas Eve 2009 Festivities

(Carrie) Charles and I had a fabulous Christmas Eve. We both had the day off from work, so were able to spend a lot of time together! We spent the morning cleaning (Carrie) and doing some last minute Christmas shopping (Charles).

Charles proposed to me two years ago on Christmas Eve while we were geocaching. We went geocaching last year on Christmas Eve and continued the tradition this year as well. The first cache was located in the old Fort Lowell Cemetery. I loved looking at the very old graves. This headstone was so weathered that I had to take a picture of it.

We then hiked up Pima Canyon to hunt for 2 more geocaches. I didn't realize there would be so many people hiking during our hunting, so we stopped alot for pictures when we were trying to spot the caches.

A picture of us at a geocache spot. Unfortunately we didn't locate this cache - too many rocks to look under and too many kids asking us if we found anything cool.

The second cache was located further up the canyon and fortunately off the trail, so we could look without being disturbed. The cache was hidden under a pile of rocks, which normally would have been easy to locate, except Pima Canyon has rocks everywhere. Charles found this cache coming from a different perspective and after I walked on the rocks above it.

Me logging our find.

After geocaching for a few hours, it was time to make dinner. I made orange rolls and Charles took care of the ham.

While the ham was cooking, we decorated sugar cookies.

Our Christmas Eve dinner: ham, orange rolls, peas, potato/sweet potato and our goodies.

Tucson had temperatures that were below freezing last night, so we decided to build a fire. Charles chopped up some of our mesquite wood that has been drying outside for over a year.

After Charles built the fire, we read "The Night Before Christmas" and all of Luke 2. We each opened one present, ate alot of goodies and waited for Santa to come!

Charles on Christmas morning with our presents. He's holding his new juicer. We had such a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas day together. We hope you all had a Merry Christmas too!!!

It looks like a really nice Christmas. Geo caching sounds like a great tradition on Christmas Eve! I'm glad Charles likes his juicer!!!!
