No HOA!!! Our first Home Sweet Home

(Carrie) Charles and I bought our first home together this week! After looking for homes all summer, we are so excited to have finally found a home that is perfect for us. The home was built in 1956, is a sturdy red brick home with nice size front and backyards, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 1 story home. The neighborhood is wonderful, in a central location, well kept, and best of all - we don't have to pay a homeowner's association fee!

We closed on the house on Thursday, steam cleaned the carpets on Friday, and cleaned and began moving some things on Saturday. Charles also spent time updating the electical outlets. We plan to finish moving by next Saturday. We can't wait to live in our new home!

We will do some updating to the home. The first thing we want to do is install ceiling lights and fans in the bedrooms. After that, we want to update the windows, remodel the kitchen, and make the carport a garage. It will probably take us a few years to get all that finished! I plan to prepare a garden spot in the backyard so I can plant some vegetable plants. I'm excited to have a place for a garden! Charles also would like to plant some grass in the backyard. Right now it is covered with small rocks (typical of Tucson).

Below are some pictures of the house. I also put on a video (in a separate blog entry) of the front of the house and kitchen. I'll try to get in a video of the backyard, but have had problems attaching it. You all need to come see the home in person! We'd love to have you!

This is the view after walking in through the front door, standing in the hallway. This is our living/dining room and fireplace. Our new neighbor left the flowers on the fireplace. The big window looks out into the front yard.

The main bathroom. I love the dark red tile and double sinks.

The master bedroom, looking into the master bathroom and main hallway.

Looking from the main hallway, through the small family room, to the kitchen. The sliding glass door on the left leads to the backyard.

A view of our bright kitchen, looking through to the laundry/storage room. All of the kitchen appliances are the originals and in perfect working condition! Off of the laundry/storage room is a door that leads to the carport.

Another view of the kitchen, looking from the dining room area. We have great views of the Catalina mountains from the kitchen window (and family room, too).
