Thanksgiving Day Insulation

(Carrie) We needed more insulation in our attic and decided that Thanksgiving Day would be the perfect day to install it ourselves. We had 24 bags of fiberglass insulation delivered from a local company on Wednesday afternoon. It was much less expensive going through this company, than having Home Depot or Lowe's do the work. Charles rented the insulation machine Wednesday night. Very early Thursday morning we had the missionaries over for a pumpkin pancake breakfast, then put them to work!

The missionaries were in charge of getting the insulation out of the bags, breaking it up into smaller pieces, and fed through the machine. Charles sprayed the insulation in the attic. I cleaned the house and made rolls during this time. The missionaries could only stay for 3 hours, so when they left I took over their job. It took awhile for me figure out the best way to deal with all the insulation and catch pieces that blew around the driveway. Luckily I only had to help with the last little bit, or this project would have taken us much longer than half a day! We've already noticed that our home is warmer and the heat hasn't turned on since Thursday.

After the insulation project was over, we ate our small Thanksgiving dinner. I found a pie at our favorite local Kosher bakery that was a mixture of apple, blueberry and cherry pies. It was a delicious pie and we enjoyed the variety of flavors. Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Carrie and Charles! That's great that the insulation has already made a noticeable difference in keeping your house warm. I love that pie from your local bakery, what a fun idea!

I wondered all day about how your insullation project was going!! It looks nice and fluffy and hopefully will save you a lot of money, while keeping your house warm - at least as warm as necessary in AZ! ;) The bigger difference might be in the summer, in keeping heat out!

Great job, guys! We know what a big deal that is.
