Friday (September 4th) we left Tucson and drove to Las Vegas, where we stayed for the night.
Saturday we went to breakfast with my college friend Doug. We then drove to Orem where we met some former coworkers of mine for a very late lunch at Magleby's Fresh. Then to visit Janet for about 15 minutes so that I could see her engagement pictures and wedding ring. Then on to Taylorsville to say a very quick hello to the Jones' family before heading to a wedding reception for my cousin Brooke. What a busy day!
Sunday we went to Music and the Spoken Word in the Tabernacle at Temple Square. That was our tradition when we were dating and love to attend the broadcast when we are in Utah. We then went to Sacrament Meeting with the Jones' and visit the cemetary where Charles' dad is buried. We then went back to Layton to finish making (and eating) mom's birthday dinner.
Charles' family has a Labor Day tradition of hiking and fishing in the Uintah's to a lake their dad named "Labor Day Lake" (2 1/2 miles in on the Crystal Lake trailhead). We spent our Monday (Labor Day) hiking and fishing at Labor Day Lake with Charles' brothers, 2 nephews and 1 niece. My dad, Emily and Jay also joined us for the day of hiking and fishing. We all had a wonderful time and enjoyed being in the mountains.

Charles at Labor Day Lake. I love the reflection of the trees in the water.
If you look close, you can see everyone scattered at their spots around the lake.
Me and Charles. I didn't fish, but enjoyed the hike, the mountains, taking pictures and watching Charles catch fish.
I hiked another 1/2 mile past Labor Day Lake with Emily, Jay and my dad to Island Lake while Charles and his brothers fished some more. My family backpacked to Island Lake for a 3-day campout a few years ago and loved that place.

The last hour of the day we spent at Trail Lake. The fishermen (Philip, Charles and Jay) on the dam at Trial Lake.
After spending the day in the Uintahs we enjoyed a BBQ dinner with the extended Jones family.
Tuesday we finished watching a recorded BYU vs. Oklahoma football game, which was fun to see. That night we ate dinner at Laura's home (friend from college) before meeting Joyce, my parents, and Emily and Jay for sealings at the newly dedicated Oquirrh Mountain Temple.
I had been craving a "Black and Tan" from Leatherby's for about 6 months, so we had to stop there after the Temple so I could get a real ice cream sundae.

Everyone with their Leatherby's creations. I finally got my Black and Tan!
Wednesday Charles went out to lunch at the Olive Garden with his mom, did some home repairs and weeding at his mom's house while I went shopping with my mom during the day. That afternoon Charles and my dad went golfing while my mom and I sorted through holiday decorations. And that evening we had dinner and played games with Les and Shauna and family. Wednesday was a very busy day!
Thursday morning we met Joyce, Marilyn, Maryann and my mom for an endowment session in the Draper Temple. That was a great experience!
After the Temple we ate lunch at Subway with my good friend, Brita.
My dad gave us tickets to watch the Utah Open at the Willow Creek Country Club. Charles was especially happy to watch some PGA golf.

Even PGA golfers have bad shots.
I enjoyed watching some of the golf, but my favorite part was just relaxing for an hour in the shade at hole 18.
Thursday night Charles and Jay went on a mountain bike ride to Dog Lake in Millcreek Canyon (1 hour 40 minutes up, 20 minutes down) while I went to a bridal shower in Provo for Janet.
We stayed in Las Vegas Friday night and watched 3 water shows at the Bellagio fountains. That was a fun way to end our trip!

Sounds like a very busy fun packed trip! Those are the best ones! By the way, what kind of fish is Charles holding up?
